How do I order repeat prescription?

You can contact the surgery by phone to request a repeat prescription. It is important to give at least 24 hours notice when requesting a prescription to allow our doctors adequate time to ensure every item on your prescription has been checked and is appropriate for your current medical needs.

Please be aware that there is a charge of €20 for a repeat prescription.



How do I arrange an appointment to see a doctor?

Call our surgery in Douglas on 021-436-3550 to arrange an appointment either in Douglas or in our Ringmahon surgery.

Urgent cases will be seen as soon as possible.

If your issue is non-urgent, we ask that you contact us at least 24 hours before you hope to be seen. This is to ensure that we have adequate time allotted for emergencies.

Please advise the receptionist if you require extra time for a special procedure or where more than one patient needs to see the doctor.

How do I claim medical expenses?

You can claim medical expenses by downloading and filling the Med 1 form.

Alternatively, if you have private medical insurance, you can contact your insurer directly for their individual claim forms.

There is a ‘no accounts’ policy and fees must be paid on the day of consultation. The fee charged for the consultation is dependent upon the nature of the service provided. These services may include investigations, injections, review of extra patients, diagnostic tests and treatment procedures.



How do I register as a new patient?

You can register by sending an email explaining your situation and how many people are looking to register. We will respond to your email and begin the process by sending the appropriate forms provided we are taking on new patients.

You will need to sign a letter of authorisation to obtain your medical records from your previous GP. If you have a medical card you will be asked to sign a transfer form to have your number transferred to this practice. If you have a medical card please ensure that all the information related to your card is valid and in date.




How do I arrange blood tests?

You can arrange an appointment for routine blood tests from 9.00 - 12.30 Monday to Friday. Your doctor may perform blood tests outside of these times if medically indicated.

We do not perform blood tests after 12.30 on Friday.

Please be aware that there is a charge of €10 with each set of bloods to cover the cost the courier.



I am not an Irish resident. Can I be seen in Douglas Medical Centre?

If you are a citizen of an EU member state you are entitled to be seen free of charge on presentation of a valid EHIC (European Health Insurance Card). This covers the cost of your appointment with the doctor and the fee for your prescription.
